It’s no secret that transportation in Houston is a nightmare. Congested roadways, potholes, and crumbling sidewalks (or no sidewalks at all) make getting around Houston increasingly dangerous. It’s time we had a mayor with the foresight to adopt transportation policies for the long term, rather than just temporary solutions for an administration.

As Mayor, I will:

Shorten the time it takes to make needed road repairs, by adopting new technology to repair roads more quickly and permanently and increasing our workforce with more public/private teams.
Engage private experts to help design and implement more efficient ways to move traffic around and through the city.
Implement better sequencing of traffic lights to minimize traffic congestion.
Increase the use of underground tunneling to install utility and water lines, resulting in less traffic interference and lower costs for taxpayers. The same technology could be employed to elevate and level roadbeds.
Support self-sustaining communities where people can live, work, and engage in leisure activities without having to travel across the city to obtain basic services.
Increase the availability of collective transportation systems (like bus and rail).
Create more bike and pedestrian pathways.
